Introduced into the business working at his parent's health food store in 1960, Danny Wells is a natural products industry veteran of over 50 years. The former owner of some of the most successful natural food stores in the U.S., his stores generated annual sales in excess of $1,000 per square foot—three times the industry average. His after-tax net of over $100 per square foot was also among the highest in the industry.
In addition to his retailing success, he has several years of industry manufacturing and distribution experience. Active in the industry's trade association, Danny has served on the board of directors for both the National NPA and Northern California Region. Under his chairmanship, the NNFA Standards Committee began the first industry testing and reporting procedures for natural foods and supplements.
A former recipient of the NPA Retailer of the Year Award, Danny is currently president of Danny Wells and Associates, a consulting firm specializing in the natural product industry. Through his consultation service he has guided over one thousand retailers and suppliers to increased sales and profits.
He is in high demand as a keynote speaker in six countries to provide insight, impressions and trend analysis for the $300 Billion global nutrition industry. Over 25,000 industry members in the U.S., Australia, Canada, England, Holland and New Zealand have attended his highly-acclaimed seminars. He has authored over 250 published articles in trade publications. Danny and his wife, Lonnie, are parents of five children and enjoy fourteen grandchildren. Recipient of the Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit, he is active in the Boy Scout and church youth programs. He plays guitar and keyboard instruments, and is an avid organic gardener. With 26 fruit trees, free-range chickens, a bee hive and a year-round vegetable garden there is always an organic bounty to share with family, neighbors and friends.
